Bold New Solutions: Stopping the Senior Homelessness Surge
August 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The number of adults 55 and older experiencing homelessness is already huge – more than 18,000 on any given night – and it’s growing. Even as the overall homeless population shrank last year, we’ve seen a surge of elderly neighbors losing their homes due to rising rents, fixed incomes, and failing policies. Our current homeless response system was designed to help people get back on their feet and find jobs, not for seniors who have nowhere to turn when they get a three day eviction notice. The old way of doing things simply won’t work for this new challenge. Join us as we discuss new solutions to do right by our elderly neighbors.
