SUMMARY:Bold New Solutions Series: Ending trauma for unhoused women
DESCRIPTION:Nearly half of all unhoused women are survivors of domestic violence\, and living on the streets only perpetuates cycles of trauma. There are programs to serve these women\, but the little funding they have is under threat. \nAs part of our series on new solutions to homelessness\, Everyone In is convening a town hall to identify ways we can step in and stop the cycle of violence. \nRSVP

SUMMARY:Bold New Solutions: Stopping the Senior Homelessness Surge
DESCRIPTION:The number of adults 55 and older experiencing homelessness is already huge – more than 18\,000 on any given night – and it’s growing. Even as the overall homeless population shrank last year\, we’ve seen a surge of elderly neighbors losing their homes due to rising rents\, fixed incomes\, and failing policies. Our current homeless response system was designed to help people get back on their feet and find jobs\, not for seniors who have nowhere to turn when they get a three day eviction notice. The old way of doing things simply won’t work for this new challenge. Join us as we discuss new solutions to do right by our elderly neighbors. \nSpeakers \n• Andrea Vocos (Moderator) – Everyone In\n• Marc Dones\, Policy Director\, UCSF Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative (BHHI)\n• Sean Sweeney\, Policy & Advocacy Outreach Coordinator\, Social Justice Learning Institute\n• Morgan Sutton\, Manager of Older Adult Homeless Initiatives\, United Way of Greater LA\n• Lee Anne Carlisle and Terri Pollard\, neighbors fighting to stay housed at an Antelope Valley apartment building \nRSVP
