SUMMARY:October Advocacy Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:This month we’ll be joined by guests working within the housing justice movement\, with a specific focus and expertise on Community Land Trusts\, Social Housing\, and other alternative models of affordable housing. As we enter an era where everyone at all income levels face housing and severe rent burden\, the traditional ways we’ve created affordable housing aren’t meeting people where they’re at. SUMMARY:November Advocacy Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:Winning with voters and in the courts – Our battles on Measure J and Measure ULAJoin us alongside experts from the Reimagine LA and Measure ULA campaigns to explore why it is that all good ideas for reshaping housing justice and racial equity ultimately win the day. These two sophisticated campaigns brought groundbreaking ideas before voters\, which voters overwhelmingly passed\, but then ended up in the courts being sued.  Measure J fought litigation for 3 years\, and Measure ULA for 1 year. Both cases ended in our favor – but why?  Join us to find out. \nRSVP

SUMMARY:Latino Homelessness Town Hall
DESCRIPTION: On Friday\, March 22 at noon\, Everyone In will host a town hall about the spike in Latino homelessness\, and the more than 200\,000 Latino residents who are on the brink of homelessness\, living “doubled up” with friends and family. This is not going to be a webinar nor a presentation—rather\, we are inviting people who have had direct experience with housing insecurity in Latino communities to lead us in a discussion where we can share stories\, talk about the data and recognize solutions. This town hall will be an hour-long conversation with opportunities to ask questions to our guest speakers and featured organizations\, and will be on a private Zoom link. Register here. Everyone is welcome\, and we hope to see you there. \nFeatured speakers: • Mike Dennis\, Director of Community Activation\, Everyone In LA at UWGLA • Dr. Deya Nevarez Martinez\, Assistant Professor of Urban and Regional Planning\, MSU • Sergio Vargas Rozo\, Los Angeles Co-Director\, ACCE  • Isela Gracian\, Senior Deputy for Homelessness and Housing\, Supervisor Holly J. SUMMARY:Bold New Solutions Series: Ending trauma for unhoused women
DESCRIPTION:Nearly half of all unhoused women are survivors of domestic violence\, and living on the streets only perpetuates cycles of trauma. There are programs to serve these women\, but the little funding they have is under threat. \nAs part of our series on new solutions to homelessness\, Everyone In is convening a town hall to identify ways we can step in and stop the cycle of violence. \nRSVP

SUMMARY:Bold New Solutions: Stopping the Senior Homelessness Surge
DESCRIPTION:The number of adults 55 and older experiencing homelessness is already huge – more than 18\,000 on any given night – and it’s growing. Even as the overall homeless population shrank last year\, we’ve seen a surge of elderly neighbors losing their homes due to rising rents\, fixed incomes\, and failing policies. Our current homeless response system was designed to help people get back on their feet and find jobs\, not for seniors who have nowhere to turn when they get a three day eviction notice. The old way of doing things simply won’t work for this new challenge. Join us as we discuss new solutions to do right by our elderly neighbors. \nSpeakers \n• Andrea Vocos (Moderator) – Everyone In\n• Marc Dones\, Policy Director\, UCSF Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative (BHHI)\n• Sean Sweeney\, Policy & Advocacy Outreach Coordinator\, Social Justice Learning Institute\n• Morgan Sutton\, Manager of Older Adult Homeless Initiatives\, United Way of Greater LA\n• Lee Anne Carlisle and Terri Pollard\, neighbors fighting to stay housed at an Antelope Valley apartment building \nRSVP
